January 27th, 2003, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union approved Directive 2002/95/EC, that is the Restriction of the use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment?, in short, Directive RoHS?. The basic contents are: from July 1st, 2007, in the electronic and electrical equipment newly launched into the market, the use of six kinds of hazardous substances, i.e., Pb, Hg, Cd, Cr VI, PBB, PBDE, etc. was restricted. After the release of the Directive, RoHS became the formal law in European Union from February 13th, 2003. Before August 13th, 2004, RoHS Directive should be transposed to national law by the member countries of the European Union. The European Commission re-audited the scope of the Directive on February 13th, 2005, Meanwhile, took the development of science and technology into account, the additional items in the list of restricted substances were drew out. After July 1st, 2006, the restriction of the sale of certain products, which contain six kinds of substances beyond the limits, is carried out.
